Phthalate Analysis
Phthalates are a group of chemical esters that provide softening and flexibility in plastic products.
It is used in packaging materials, printing inks and coatings. Its use is prohibited in many countries, including Europe, under directives such as 2005/84/EEC, (EC) 10/2011 and other regulations.
Phthalate testing on polymers and other products in contact with food is carried out with appropriate standards and devices. For specific migration test results on food contact materials, the limits should be as follows:
• di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) Limit: 1.5 mg / kg
• diisononyl phthalate ( DINP), diisodesyl phthalate (DIDP) Limit: 9 mg / kg (= the sum of the two in total)
