Paper bursting test; It is a test parameter carried out to measure the maximum bursting strength of paper or paper products. Paper bursting machine can be hydraulic or pneumatic.
Test procedure; The test specimen held between the annular clamps is subjected to increased pressure by a rubber diaphragm, which is expanded by hydraulic pressure at a controlled rate until the test specimen ruptures. The maximum pressure read up to the rupture point is recorded as burst strength.
Blast strength is widely used as a measure of resistance to break in many types of paper. The test is relatively easy and inexpensive and appears to simulate some end-use requirements.
The burst strength of a material is defined as the maximum hydrostatic pressure required for the material to rupture when a controlled and ever-increasing pressure is applied through a rubber diaphragm to a circular area of 30.5 mm (1.20 inch) diameter.
