The weight of a paper package is important in terms of determining both the quality of the material and the appropriate area of use in which it can be used.
The weight or basis weight of paper and cardboard is primarily determined by weighing the samples after conditioning in a 50% Rh environment for 24 hours at 23 oC. Results are usually stated in gsm or g/m2.
