Standard Test Method for Dynamic Shock Cushioning Properties of Packaging Material

ASTM D1596

This test method is performed to obtain the dynamic shock cushioning properties of packaging materials from velocity-time data obtained by dropping a roller assembly onto a stationary sample.

The data obtained can be used to develop a dynamic cushion curve for a single point or for the specific material being tested. Such data can be used to make comparisons between different materials under certain input conditions or to qualify materials according to their performance characteristics.

The test method in question is carried out to control the cushioning materials in order to protect the products in cardboard boxes. The most used cushioning materials;

- Paper Cushioning System
- Air Cushioning System
- Corrugated & Corrugated Cardboard
- Bubble Sheet
- Container Air Cushion
- EPS Expanded Polystyrene
- Foam PE
- Wood Wool (Extension)
