Depending on the packaging types, some abrasions may occur on the packaging prints during the storage and transportation of the products. Damage may occur to the appearance of the product or to the readability of the product information.

The amount of wear on the packaging prints may vary depending on the temperature-humidity conditions of the environment and time. This test method can be used to measure the abrasion resistance of printed inks, coatings, laminates and substrates.

This test method can also be used to determine whether corrosion causes spills or leaks in detergent and food packaging.
