The type of packaging material is one of the most important factors affecting the shelf life and quality of the product it contains. Especially leaks in packages,

- It can cause contaminants to enter the package
- The product in the package may be lost by leakage.

Especially sensitive products can easily deteriorate due to factors such as moisture and gas entering the package due to leakage.

Within the scope of ASTM F3039 standard, leak points in packaging materials can be determined and their suitability for use can be checked. Two different methods are used within the scope of the standard. Dye penetration processes are applied with test methods.

This test method can be applied on transparent, opaque non-porous surfaces.
