Environmental Stress Crack Resistance (ESCR) is one of the important tests that should be especially long-lasting in plastic packaging. Environmental stress cracking, which can occur in plastic packaging, is responsible for approximately 15-30% of the problems in packaging.
Environmental Stress Crack Resistance (ESCR) can be expressed as internal or external cracking caused by stresses less than short-term mechanical strength in plastics. It also affects the product protection performance of packaging materials due to stress cracking that causes deterioration in plastic materials.
Environmental stress cracking is the failure of polymer material due to surface-induced microcracks or breaks. These result from the co-existence of environmental influences and stresses. Basically, the resistance of the polymer to such effects is environmental stress cracking resistance (ESCR). It is tried to determine its sensitivity to environmental stress cracking within the scope of the relevant standards.
