Internal bond test (Z-direction)

According to Tappi T541 or ISO 15754 standards, the Z - Tensile Test is performed on multilayer packaging materials such as paper and cardboard. The Z – Tensile Test, also called the Internal Bond Test, determines the bond frequency of layers for samples consisting of layers that adhere to each other.

With the Z – Tensile Test, the machinability of materials can be determined in printing or dyeing processes. Z – Tensile Test is performed by applying a vertical force to the surface of the specimen with another specimen according to Tappi T541 or ISO 15754 standards. There is double-sided tape.

  • The other side of the carrier has only double-sided tape.
  • First, the sample is pressed onto the second carrier.
  • Pressing force and time are adjusted according to the sample.
  • Finally, the tensile test is applied to the sample.
  • The measured value is the pull-out resistance.
