It is an important issue to keep the medicines we use or the chemical products we use at home out of the reach of children. Every year, many children are taken to the hospital because they are affected by these products.
For this reason, the production of child-resistant packaging for dangerous products has become an important issue. Within the scope of the ISO 13127 standard, there are mechanical tests required to determine that the packaging system is produced in a way that is not open to children.
Products that may contain child-resistant packaging:
- Detergents
- Cleaning materials
- Cosmetics and care products
- Medicines
- Medicinal products
- Chemical horticultural products
Standards referred to under ISO 13127:
• ISO 8317 , Childproof packaging - Requirements and test procedures for reclosable packages
• ASTM D3472, Standard Test Method for Reverse Ratchet Torque of Type 1A Child Restraint Caps
• ASTM D3481, Standard Test Method for Manual Bombardment of Two Piece Child Restraint Caps Activated by Two Simultaneous Dissimilar Movements
• ASTM D3968, Standard Test Method for Monitoring Torque of Rotation of Type IIIA Childproof Caps
