Specific Migration - Element Determination

BS EN 13130-1, NMKL 186 - Plastic Substances and Materials in Contact with Food - Specific Migration - Element Determination (Aluminum (Al), Copper(Cu), Barium(Ba), Zinc(Zn), Iron(Fe), Cobalt (Co), Lithium(Li), Manganese(Mn), Nickel (Ni))

Specific Migration - Element Determination

Specific migration; It is carried out by exposing the Plastic Materials and Materials in contact with food to a food-like chemical substance for an appropriate period of time. Many elements can be found in plastic materials and materials that come into contact with food. Contact with hot or cold food, contact time and food structure are important factors for migration, that is, element transition to food.

Aluminum (Al), Copper(Cu), Barium(Ba), Zinc(Zn), Iron(Fe), Cobalt(Co), Lithium(Li), Manganese(Mn), Nickel( Ni) can be found in plastic materials and materials that come into contact with food and may pass into food by migration.

The presence of elements is restricted in materials that come into contact with food.
• Aluminum (Al); 5 mg/kg
• Copper(Cu); 5 mg/kg
• Barium(Ba); 1 mg/kg
• Zinc(Zn); 25 mg/kg
• Iron(Fe); 48 mg/kg
• Cobalt(Co); 0.05 mg/kg
• Lithium(Li); 0.6 mg/kg
• Manganese(Mn); 0.6 mg/kg
• Nickel (Ni); 0.02 mg/kg
