Total Migration Analysis of Paper and Cardboard Materials and Materials in Contact with Food

The EN 14338 standard includes a method for assessing the transfer or migration of certain volatile and semi-volatile substances from paper and board. It is a method developed for paper and cardboard intended to come into contact with dry, oil-free foodstuffs, and paper and cardboard materials for cooking purposes.

Paper and cardboard are widely used as raw materials in food packaging and cooking materials. For this reason, it is necessary to determine the total migration that may occur as a result of prolonged contact with food and contact of the hot product with paper and cardboard packaging material.

With Total Migration Analysis within the scope of EN 1186-13 - Method B and EN 14338 standards, general migration determination processes are performed using food simulants under conventional test conditions.
